light transmitting concrete
The heavy, dull substance of concrete, lit and full of life?
Architects around the world have been prospecting for the new building materials such as Litracon introduced by Hungarian architect Áron Losonczi. Litracon is a light transmitting concrete combination of optical fibres & fine concrete. The proportion of the fibres is only 4% of the blocks so they do not impede the structural integrity of the concrete, but rather contribute forming a component of the aggregate.

This Litracon concrete material can be prefabricated into building blocks and panels. The glass fibres lead light by points between the two sides of the blocks which allows to produce sharp display of the shadows on the opposite side of the blocks as well.
